Cyberpunk 2077 offers multiple paths to conclude V's story in Night City, but none are as intense or rewarding as the hidden finale. Known as (Don't Fear) The Reaper, this secret ending allows players to storm Arasaka Tower completely solo alongside Johnny Silverhand. Triggering this high-stakes mission requires specific decisions made long before reaching the final point of no return.
Essential Pre-Requisites and Side Quests
Unlocking this secret route depends heavily on your relationship and interactions with Johnny Silverhand throughout your playthrough. Players must complete main storyline events including Tapeworm and progress far enough to access Johnny's personal side jobs. Completing the quest Chippin' In is mandatory, as it contains the critical dialogue juncture that determines whether the secret route opens up.
While many players assume a high affinity percentage is necessary, specific dialogue choices during the oil field scene in Chippin' In serve as the primary trigger. Selecting constructive yet firm responses forces Johnny to confront his past mistakes directly. These key conversational moments lay the groundwork for Johnny to trust V with a solo suicide run.
Rooftop Choices and Triggering the Mission
Once you reach the final mission, Nocturne Op55N1, you will find yourself on the Misty's Esoterica balcony discussing options with Johnny. When presented with choices on how to proceed, select the option to let Johnny go with Rogue, but do not finalize your selection. Instead of choosing an option, leave the dialogue idle and wait in silence for approximately five minutes.
After five minutes of silence, Johnny will speak up and propose an alternative strategy. He suggests storming Arasaka Tower together without putting any of V's allies in harm's way. Agreeing to this proposal immediately initiates the secret mission, sending V straight into the front doors of Arasaka Tower.
Combat Dynamics and Consequence Management
The combat during (Don't Fear) The Reaper presents one of the toughest challenges in Cyberpunk 2077. Enemies hit exceptionally hard, and V's maximum health steadily degrades over time during the assault. Preparing high-tier weapons, armor, and combat cyberware before starting the finale is crucial for survival.
Unlike other endings, dying during this mission does not allow you to reload a checkpoint. Failing at any point triggers immediate credits, making it a true high-risk scenario. Successfully reaching Mikoshi allows you to choose between returning to V's body or letting Johnny take over, resolving the story on your own terms.
